Introduction
This semester, we explored this question of what we can do about environmental devastation caused by humans. We studied climate change on a local and global scale, which then led to more research. Our research first began at Famosa Slough, a wetland, where we studied the ecological impacts of climate change and pollution. This grew into studying the larger effects of climate change, such as coral bleaching and droughts. After extensive research on the impacts of climate change, we began to look into solutions. We applied philosophical concepts to assess the morality and effectiveness of a wide range of solutions, all of which that have the potential to help us address the issues of climate change.

Reflection
Throughout this semester, the question of “How do humans impact the environment and what can we do about it?” has been the main premises of the Eco-Justice project. There have been many claims made, but as far as what has been learned and taught this semester, it’s well known that human combustion of fossil fuels and the way production of materials are handled, is the leading factor in climate change. When emissions are released into the air, they are trapped in a thermal blanket located in the atmosphere. This thermal blanket contains water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, and other gases, that all trap heat from the sun, further increasing global temperatures. But since it is already known how humans impact the environment (though this is only the start to a whole chain of issues caused by humans), the pressing matter is the fact that not much is done to address this problem. Many solutions have been discussed throughout the semester, but when it is condensed down to a basic foundation, the only option available to tackle climate change is to reduce the amount of carbon emissions produced by humans, so that any further damage may be prevented.
One solution to the issue of climate change is reforestation. Reforestation is the restoration of trees in an area that has been subjected to deforestation, as well as the exploitation of resources, without any saplings being planted to make up for the loss. These trees destruction, especially those located in the Amazon, could cause a terrible, irreversible, ecological disaster on a global scale. By cutting down forests, humans are reducing the number of carbon sinks (a natural environment that absorbs carbon dioxide) on Earth, thus further damaging the world where all life lives on. Utilitarian ideas and values can prove that reforestation would greatly benefit and please a majority of people if it were carried out. This utilitarian solution would allow for the majorities happiness to be ensured in the future, despite the possibilities of the minority to disagree at the beginning. Reforestation benefits also greatly outweigh any costs and is a solution that would assist in us addressing the issue and effects of climate change.
Throughout this semester I faced a few challenges though. One of the challenges was the lack of motivation I felt to finish work. I was never too enthusiastic about our assignments, but I never complained either. I knew a lot of what we were doing was necessary if we were to ever finish our final project, but having to just do things was a little tiring. And it wasn’t tiring in a way that physically or emotionally drained me, but more so in a way that just lacked vitality. I just view it as something that wasn’t for me. I never really faced any issues that could damage my grades though, except that there was some work I didn’t always put my all into, which showed. But there are several things I’m proud of. Turning in assignments on time is what I’m most proud of, but who wouldn’t be, to be honest. We also had the chance to do a few artistic things this semester, which was also one thing I really looked forward too. I also learned a little about myself these past few months as well. I know that I don’t feel stressed under any circumstance, for the most part though. I’m always weak when it comes to presentations, and it only became more visible as the weeks went on. But aside from those minor hiccups, I’d say everything went fairly smoothly this semester. There was a lot that happened, many good things actually, but most of it went over my head since I’m always too busy chillin’ in my own head. Overall, I’m just really appreciative of my classmates and teachers putting everything together in the end. And I think anything anyone has contributed to to our succession of this semester was really just a wonderful thing.
